Argh!!
It has come to my attention that I use 'grumpy' to describe my mood when I'm unable to articulate (whether by choice, or by stubbornness, or by inability) what exactly my mood is about. In trying to be unselfish and fair all the time, I let myself build up and then explode into a great three or so days where I'm nearly always selfish and very unfair. This is unhealthy. I've decided to incorporate a little selfishness into my daily diet so that I don't binge so much.
Off we go, to fail a Chem quiz--dipole moments can pretty much suck my balls. And so can Coulomb's Law, even though it is what everything is derived from. That's right. The fundamentals of the universe can suck my balls.
GIVE ME WEEKEND!

She does have balls... of sorts... they're just tucked up inside and don't get itchy when it's humid, and she's not huddled on the ground in a fetal position because an errant rock knocked off the road by a car hits you in the moneymaker.
Why do women have it so great?

Also, as to the potatoe... Have you seen the urethral syringes of the early 1900's? Yeah. YEAH.
Not to mention epidurals. Sure, it hurts... but modern day painkillers are leaps and bounds ahead of the stick covered in cloth they stook in your mouth 300 years ago.
There's even a Cesarian Section if you feel so inclined (Though there are some risks associated, granted), which means you don't have to pass a football through a cheerio.
Is your point valid? Yes. As valid as you make it seem? No. *blows raspberry* Give it another 100 years, and the pain of birth may not even exist.
Pshah. Now where're you at? Huh.... HUH? Can't touch this! *boom doom doom doom, budoom, dudoom*

As to shortening the week, shortening anything natural comes with drawbacks. I used to take the pill, and it didn't do a thing towards shortening that week. In fact, I -got- cramps after I started taking the pill. Shortening the week either means less hormones or more hormones in your body, which will have detrimental effects either way. With more hormones, your mood swings will be worse, and high hormone pills have been linked with breast cancer.
Claiming that we're solving the problem doesn't take away the problem. There are women in other countries who don't have these solutions that we have in the U.S. There's also the gender divide in the workplace and pay, and innumerable other problems that arise from being the 'weaker sex'. When is the last time you had to think about carrying a weapon to avoid being raped or assaulted. Or had to think about that when going out at night. When's the last time you -were- sexually assaulted.
These things you mention are all unnatural 'remedies' to the human condition. Sure, I've seen the urethral syringes of the 1900s. But they don't use those anymore, do they? If you're going to use current medecine as an example, use it for everyone. It's only fair.
