an upstart crow
9 January 2004 19:08I wrote a scene, ran my application for writer of the musical comedy revue up to Carney, and then ran very quickly down to the Upstart Crows show.
My good friend Julia called me with a proposition on Tuesday this week; she was going out of town for the show on Friday, and she needed someone to take her place in the Comedy of Errors at very, very, very short notice. I said I would, was immediately 'elevated to sainthood,' and given the script on wednesday. I was to play Angelo in a 'ghetto-fied' version of the same for Friday's performance. Tech rehearsal on Thursday.
Went to Tech, and had to use my script. I was so afraid that I wasn't going to be memorized in time for Friday. A strange thing happened. I woke up on Friday, and I had my lines memorized. The Bard is with me, I suppose.
The show was wond'rous fun. Raquel called me shorty Angelo, someone random told me I made a great ho, and Jack showed up unexpectedly to see the show.
This is all.
