Someone tell me why the concept of swearing loyalty is different for men and women?

I'm not talking like relationship loyalty. Not, 'I won't cheat on you' loyalty. I'm talking about swearing a vow to your lord. Fealty. I don't know. Something bigger than now.

I don't know what it is, but there's a difference.
