life = unfortunate
9 February 2006 10:01So I'm sleeping peacefully, having this weird dream about -something- and the fire alarm goes off. I don't remember it being so loud before, so my sleep addled mind is absolutely sure the building's on fire. So I roll out of bed, into my closet for boots and a coat, and down the stairs out into the cold morning air of two in the morning.
The building is not on fire. I sit with Molly, and we talk about absolutely nothing because we're both asleep. At one point, I realize that nobody else is here. Molly is going the pantsless old man rendition of the Old Grey Mare, and laughing. I'm like, 'Molly, where's the rest of our suite?' I'm pretty sure they're dying. She says, 'Didn't you notice that none of them are sleeping here anymore?' I contemplate for a moment, she continues, 'Esther's with Quinn, Maddie and Kaley are out, Tippy and Jess are at TKE...' I decide that this would be a good time to do my own rendition of the Old Grey Mare. We shuffle together and laugh until our lungs might fall out. I think the other girls out there think we're hysterical.
Not hysterical like funny. Like... hysterical.
We probably are.
When the fire alarm turns off, a ragged cry of 'Yay!' emits from the crowd, and we all shuffle back upstairs and into bed. I can hear Katya outside saying, 'Everyone's awake now right? Let's eat some popcorn.'
I yell, 'If you set off the fire alarm again, I swear to God!'
Then I try to sleep but I can't because the closet door keeps making creaking sounds, and I feel like 'what if someone set off the fire alarm so they could get in here unnoticed and kill us all.' I'm pretty sure I hear someone screaming.
I hate the fire alarm.
